Is it safe to exercise in pregnancy?
YES! Exercising is not dangerous for your baby. Evidence suggests that active women are less likely to experience problems in later pregnancy and labour.
What is aquanatal?
Aquanatal is a pool based exercise class specifically tailored for pregnant and newly postnatal mums.
How soon can I start?
Providing you are medically fit, you are welcome to book onto our classes at any gestation in your pregnancy. We know the benefits of being active during pregnancy in all three trimesters, so you can attend from being newly pregnant right up until 40+ weeks.
Can I do aquanatal after birth too?
Aquanatal provides the perfect gentle re-introduction to exercise following birth, up to the first year. We welcome you from 6 weeks postnatal following a vaginal birth, and from 8 weeks postnatal following a caesarean birth (providing you have stopped post-birth vaginal bleeding). We request that you have attended your 6-8 week well-being check up with your GP to ensure that you are fit to return to exercise.
What does a class entail?
The session is made up of 4 sections; warm up, aerobic, muscular strength & toning and a gentle cool down. We then meet up once you are dressed to discuss our ‘Topic of the week’ with a complimentary biscuit!
Do I need to know how to swim, or be a confident swimmer to participate?
No, you do not need to be able to swim, or be a confident swimmer to join in our classes, but please do let us know if you fall into this category so that we can ensure that you feel safe and supported during each session.
What do I need to wear?
We recommend a swimming costume, and as your bump grows it might be worth investing in a maternity swimsuit to ensure that you are comfortable when exercising in the water. Some ladies like to wear a sports bra underneath their costume for some extra support. Socks or aqua shoes are also another optional extra if you feel like you need more grip on the pool floor during classes.
Do I need to bring anything?
We recommend that you bring a drink so that you can stay hydrated during your exercise.
My pregnancy is considered ‘High Risk’ or I have pre-existing medical conditions, is aquanatal safe for me and my baby?
There are some conditions that preclude participation in our classes, please speak to us directly for further information. We are happy to explore whether this form of exercise is safe for you and your pregnancy. You are required to complete a ‘Fitness Screening Questionnaire’ before participating in our classes to ensure that it is safe for you to take part.
What happens if I can’t make a class I booked on to?
Amendments to bookings and refunds are at the discretion of Nesting Lotus. We request at least 24 hours notice prior to the commencement of the class to be eligible for any changes.
Are gift vouchers available?
Yes! Please contact us via the website for further information. The perfect gift for that special mum or mum-to-be in your life.
